It has been a little bit of a climb to restore The Ice Cave to a functioning website. Instead of just reuploading the entire site, I’ve taken on the task of recreating everything in WordPress. This means re-writing twenty year old pages that are filled with grammatical errors, spelling errors, and various typos. In addition to that, I’m learning to use WordPress as a website builder and not just a blog. It has been quite the learning experience.

Right now I’m in the process of uploading the screenshot galleries for the Balto trilogies. The original Balto and Balto III: Wings of Change are done, but I’m stalled at Balto II: Wolf Quest. I do have images that were given to me nearly twenty years ago by a friend. The quality of them are still good, but there are only 97 images in total. Compared to the 1200+ in my Balto gallery and the 500+ in the Wings of Change gallery. In order to grab the images I’ll have to watch Wolf Quest all over again and I know it won’t be an enjoyable experience. My apologies to all of you Wolf Quest stans.

Fun fact: uploading hundreds of images at a time makes WordPress slow to a crawl. Adding hundreds of images to a page even with a gallery plug-in also slows WordPress down. (Having a plug-in that organizes media files into folders is a must.) I hope my slowing the server down with so many processes went unnoticed by my host. The finished galleries will remain private until I’m ready for the rest of the site to go public.

After that I’ll be working on the information and extras pages. At this point with so many Wiki sites and the much larger Balto Source available, I’m wondering how much effort I should put into these extra pages. Should things like character pages be included? Feel free to share your thoughts with me.

Once the information pages are done I will move on to recreating community pages.

Sadly, I still have no ETA on completion.

Thanks for all of your patience!
